In the fall of 1993, Cathy suffered a fall that required vertebrae surgery – resulting in numerous trips to Ottawa for MRI appointments. Those experiences reinforced to Lloyd just how important it is for our community to have access to advanced medical imaging close to home.

Wanting to make a difference and honour Cathy’s memory, Lloyd made a generous donation to support the PSFDH Foundation’s MRI Campaign. His gift will help ensure that patients and families in our region can access the care they need close to home – something he and Cathy understood the importance of firsthand.

Then, one ordinary day, she felt a lump in her breast.

“I noticed a lump in my left breast. I waited a week, thinking maybe it would go away. But something just didn’t feel right,” she remembers.

That gut feeling led Jasmin to her doctor and changed her life. Within weeks, tests revealed the news no one wants to hear: breast cancer.

On August 16, Jasmin underwent surgery preformed by Dr. Morell at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital to remove the tumor and lymph nodes. Recovery was long and difficult but when her results came back clear, she knew there was hope.

“Ringing the bell after my final radiation session on December 21st was the best Christmas present ever,” Jasmin says. “It felt so good to know… I made it.”

Today, Jasmin continues her recovery, grateful for the doctors, nurses, and technology that made her treatment possible. Most of all, she is grateful she had access to expert, compassionate care close to home.

Her message is simple: “Please don’t wait. Self-check. Go for your mammogram. Early detection saved my life.” Every donation makes a difference for patients like Jasmin, and for the countless others who will walk through our doors tomorrow.

Their dedication shows the true spirit of this worldwide Masonic motorcycle club – the largest in the world with over 50,000 members.

Grounded in the principles of Faith, Hope, and Charity, the Widows Sons Masonic Riders remind us that no distance or weather is too great when it’s for a good cause.

The Trick family has been a steadfast supporter of our hospital for many years. Their remarkable generosity has already made an incredible impact on the MRI Campaign, and this year they stepped forward once again with their second matching gift.

Their $60,000 matching challenge inspired 183 donors to take action, contributing $147,667 . With the match, this brought the total raised to an incredible $207,667.

Because of the community’s response, and the Trick family’s continued commitment to local healthcare, we have now raised just over $3,790,000 for the MRI to date.

The MRI is now operational and already transforming patient care, helping reduce travel, shorten wait times, and provide timely diagnoses right here at home. Every scan performed is a reminder of what we can achieve together when a community rallies behind its hospital.

While we celebrate this milestone, the journey isn’t finished. The MRI is a significant investment, and continued support will ensure that this lifesaving technology is fully funded and sustained for years to come. Each donation moves us closer to that goal and strengthens healthcare for families across our region.
